Support & FAQ
Need help with Intake? Most questions are answered below. If you can't find what you're looking for, email us directly and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
Intake works fully offline and doesn't require an account. From the Today screen you can tap a quick-add preset (200ml, 250ml, 330ml, 500ml) to log water in one tap, or tap + Quick Add to log a beverage or meal. Use the barcode icon to scan packaged food and pull in verified nutrition data automatically.
Health sync is optional and off by default. Turn it on from
Settings → Connect Apple Health, and confirm the
permission prompt from iOS. Intake only writes to Health — it never
reads existing Health data. If entries still aren't appearing,
check Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Intake
on your device to confirm write access is enabled for water,
caffeine, and nutrition categories.
If a scan doesn't return a result, the product may not yet be in the
Open Food Facts database — you can still add it manually. Make sure
Intake has camera access under
Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera, and that
you're scanning in good lighting with the barcode filling the frame.
Widgets and the Watch app share data locally through your device. If a widget looks stale, try removing and re-adding it from the Home Screen, or opening the Watch app once to force a refresh. Restarting your device also clears most sync hiccups.
Intake stores your logs on-device and does not currently back them up to iCloud. If you enabled Apple Health sync, your hydration and nutrition history will still be visible in the Health app on a new device once you sign in with the same Apple ID. We're evaluating iCloud backup for a future update.
Check that notifications are enabled for Intake under
Settings → Notifications → Intake on your device, and
that reminders are turned on in-app under
Settings → Enable Reminders. Intake automatically
skips reminders once you're close to your daily goal.
